Principal Tuba - Core Tenure Track Preliminary & Semi-Final Rounds: Monday September 22nd, 2025 Final Round: Tuesday September 23rd, 2025 Employment beginning in September/October 2025 or as soon as possible About the Position The Omaha Symphony is seeking a Tuba player for the position of Principal Tuba. This is a tenure-track position. The Omaha Symphony’s season is stylistically diverse, and equal emphasis is placed on public performances and education/community engagement programs. Some travel will be required within the Omaha Metro area. Compensation and Benefits The *2025/2026 season is 38 weeks. The annual salary for this position in *2024/25 season was $50,255.40. Benefits include paid personal, sick, & audition leave, a two-week paid holiday break in December, partially subsidized health & dental, and instrument insurance, and up to 4% match on an employer-sponsored 403(b) retirement fund. * The Collective Bargaining Agreement is currently under negotiation, salary and benefits may change. Audition Process This will be a multi-round audition. Live Preliminary and Semi- Final Rounds will be held on Monday, September 22nd, 2025 and the Final Round on Tuesday September 23rd, 2025 in Omaha at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Artistic Coordinator
Position Title: Artistic Coordinator Department: Artistic Reports To: Artistic Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Duties and Responsibilities: Assist Artistic Manager with guest artist communications and planning, including travel, accommodation, transportation, and any on-site logistics Coordinate guest artist hospitality, ticket requests, and merchandise sales with OSA staff and Omaha Performing Arts staff Provide guest artist transportation which may require driving personal vehicle, Omaha Symphony vehicles, and rented vehicles Attend orchestra services as assigned within staff rotation, fulfills service duties as required Work with Operations and Artistic staff to communicate all necessary information for planning and execution of programs in a timely manner Leads the day to day office management of the Omaha Symphony staff office, with duties including but not limited to front desk functions such as greeting and assisting lobby visitors, answering incoming phone calls, and performing some office filing. Maintain departmental databases (OPAS) Digitize recordings for archival and general use purposes Assist Artistic Manager and/or VP of Artistic Administration as needed, including producing department meeting notes and agendas for approval, typing letters and research assistance Understand the orchestra’s master agreement (CBA) and helps ensure that it is upheld Assist with the communication, material distribution, and execution processes of symphony auditions Perform other duties as assigned Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes: Possess strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Sharepoint), and Adobe Acrobat Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate with a broad spectrum of personalities and exhibit patience and understanding Winning personality is essential, as this position works directly with artists and artist managers in conjunction with Artistic Manager and must be flexible and capable of creating and maintaining excellent relationships on behalf of the organization Imagination, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure Exemplary organizational skills with extraordinary attention to detail Excellent professional communication skills, both written and oral. Experience with proofing and/or editing preferred but not required Ability to maintain confidentiality, and high personal integrity and ethical standards Knowledge of orchestra performance, instrumentation and concert production preferred Ability to read music is strongly preferred but not required Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in music or related discipline preferred Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: State of Residence Driver’s License Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Orchestra Stage Manager
Orchestra Stage Manager Department: Operations Reports To: Operations and Production Manager FLSA Status: Full Time Seasonal, Salaried, Non-Exempt September- June (40 weeks) To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty and/or responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Position Summary: The Stage Manager is responsible for proper and efficient management of the Omaha Symphony’s rehearsal and performance sites and equipment. This position serves as the Orchestra Stage Manager for all Omaha Symphony productions and rehearsals. Position Duties and Responsibilities: Stage Management & Setup Guarantee accurate stage setup per stage plots (chairs, stands, piano/keyboard, percussion, etc.). Execute timely placement of percussion instruments as directed by Principal Percussionist and Timpanist. Serve as Stage Manager during performances: cue lighting, sound, and stage crew; facilitate entrances/exits. Direct stagehands for all required stage shifts during services. Equipment & Transportation Transport all necessary equipment to Omaha Symphony service sites, including runouts and tours. Operate a straight truck; manage truck rental, maintenance, and fuel. Supervise load-ins and loadouts for all services. Coordinate delivery and pickup of special equipment or instruments. Ensure proper storage and regular maintenance of orchestra equipment and instruments. Venue & Backstage Preparation Ensure backstage areas are equipped with necessary amenities (water, coffee, uncasing tables, etc.). Maintain safe, well-lit, and organized backstage facilities with appropriate furniture and clear pathways. Arrive early to assess and address potential staging concerns (temperature, lighting, safety). Communicate with the Manager on Duty (MOD) and any other relevant staff to resolve issues during rehearsals and performances. Collaboration & Communication Coordinate with Artistic Administration, Operations, and musicians regarding special setup needs. Maintain working knowledge of the musicians’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and its application. Attend weekly and monthly staff and production meetings. Audio & Technical Support Serve as Audio Engineer for education services and lecture events as needed. Other Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Occasional travel outside of Omaha area required Experience and Qualifications: Three years’ experience in management of stage operations, including light, sound reinforcement, video, and stage designs. Experience with orchestra configurations preferred. Basic knowledge of professional lighting and sound equipment preferred. Basic audio engineering experience required. Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse personalities, including Symphony musicians, other staff, conductors, guest artists, stage crew, and house production staff. Ability to effectively manage and communicate to Assistant Stage Manager and stage crew. Excellent communication skills and close working knowledge of standard technical terms, lighting terms, sound terms. Must be able to communicate in person, by telephone, and via radio or headset. Ability to keep track of all business expense receipts and report them monthly. Ability to analyze problems, communicate with them effectively, and assist in implementing an effective decision. Ability to balance multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate on projects. Computer proficiency including Word and Excel software Flexible schedule with availability of early mornings, evenings and weekends as schedule requires. Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in music/production related field preferred Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Driver’s License Ability to drive non-CDL automatic 26’ straight truck in diverse conditions (training can be provided) Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted; up to 100 pounds with assistance Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to withstand loud environments up to 100dB and varying climates and temperatures. 26' straight truck and 15 passenger van Equipment/Machinery Used: General Office Equipment (Computer, Telephone, Copier, Printer) Carts, dollies, and hand tools (i.e. wrench, drill, screwdriver, etc.) Loading docks, truck lift gates, and garage doors Supervisory Responsibilities: Assistant Stage Manager in all areas pertaining to production such as scheduling, load ins, load outs, and orchestra service support.
