Associate Conductor
Serena Reuten is a German-Canadian conductor currently serving as the Associate Conductor of the Omaha Symphony.
Over the last year she has led over 50 performances for over 15,000 students and audience members across a range of repertoire, including Masterworks, Community, Family, and education concerts such as Carnegie Hall’s Link Up series.
Between 2024-2026 she also joins the third cohort of the Orchestre Métropolitain’s Orchestral Conducting Academy mentorship program under the guidance of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In 2025, she was selected to join the next cohort of Women in Musical Leadership through Tapestry Opera. Recent activities include participating in the 2025 Fiskars Conducting Academy lead by the LEAD! Foundation in Finland, 2025 Tanglewood Conducting Seminar, and the 2024 Järvi Conducting Academy in Pärnu, Estonia. She has served as guest assistant conductor for the Toronto Symphony and National Arts Centre Orchestra, as well as guest conductor with the Winnipeg Symphony during their annual Winnipeg New Music Festival. In 2023, she was the inaugural recipient of the Bernhard Gueller Conducting Fellowship with Symphony Nova Scotia as well as one of CBC’s 30 under 30 Classical Musicians. Now in its 5th year, Our Turn is a specially designed concert offers a welcoming and inclusive space for audiences of all ages and abilities. With a relaxed atmosphere and flexible seating, families can enjoy the music at their own pace. Lighting and sound levels are carefully adjusted for comfort, and a judgment-free environment allows audience members to move, vocalize, or take breaks as needed.
The Omaha Symphony will showcase the rich sounds of the orchestra, introducing the many instruments that bring music to life. From the shimmer of strings to the boom of the bass drum, audiences can experience a joyful journey through music. This program is designed in collaboration with Autism Action Partnership to engage without overwhelming. Whether it’s your first time at the symphony or a return visit, this relaxed performance invites everyone to share in the beauty of live music together.
Omaha Symphony Forte concerts strive to create an environment of Radical Hospitality. We recognize capacity and crowd size influences how comfortable folks feel at events. Advanced registration is appreciated and will allow those individuals to receive Know Before You Go information. Tickets are $2/each.
