PRESS RELEASE: Omaha Symphony announces the return of the Harry Potter film concert series with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ in Concert

OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 13. 2018 – The Harry Potter Film Concert Series returns to the Holland Center with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert, the second film in the Harry Potter series. On November 24 & 25, Principal Pops Conductor Ernest Richardson will conduct the Omaha Symphony in performing John Williams’ unforgettable score live from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen.

OWH REVIEW: Omaha Symphony opens season with triumphant night of Beethoven, Bernstein

What fate destroys, faith renews. This conflict and comfort were the center of the Omaha Symphony’s season-opening concert on Friday night at the Holland Center. Almost 250 years after Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth, during the centenary year of Leonard Bernstein, the orchestra presented three works by the two composers meant to light up Omaha’s imagination on the topics of mortality, destiny and how art can express each. Music Director Thomas Wilkins conducted.

PRESS RELEASE: Jennifer Boomgaarden named President and CEO of the Omaha Symphony

OMAHA, Neb., July 10, 2018 - Omaha Symphony Board Chairman D. David Slosburg announced today the appointment of Jennifer Boomgaarden to the position of President and CEO of the Omaha Symphony. Boomgaarden, currently the Executive Director of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO), will begin her new post September 4, 2018. She succeeds James M. Johnson, who left Omaha in April 2018 to become CEO of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Veteran arts administrator David J. Hyslop has been serving as interim CEO since Johnson’s departure and will continue in that role as Boomgaarden assumes her new position, assisting in the leadership transition.

Omaha Symphony Serves Omaha Better Than Ever!

In the 2017-18 season, which spanned 38 weeks from September 2017 through June 2018 and encompassed 55 concerts, paid attendance for Omaha Symphony performances at the Holland Performing Arts Center and Joslyn Art Museum was 70,261 - a new record. This is an 8.2% increase over last season. Including attendance at education programs, community engagement events, and free concerts, more than 121,000 people attended the Omaha Symphony in 2017-18.
