Maestro JoAnn Falletta to Conduct Omaha Symphony’s First Masterworks Concert of 2026/27 Season
GRAMMY©-nominated pianist Joyce Yang to perform Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F
OMAHA, Neb., September 14, 2026 – Principal Guest Conductor JoAnn Falletta and GRAMMY©-nominated pianist Joyce Yang will kick off the Omaha Symphony’s 2026/27 season with works from Gershwin, Strauss, and Adolphus Hailstork.
Maestro JoAnn Falletta will join the Omaha Symphony from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to open the 2026/27 season with a jazz-centered concert. Adolphus Hailstork’s Fanfare on Amazing Grace opens the concert, followed by GRAMMY©-nominated pianist Joyce Yang’s performance of Gershwin’s jazzy Piano Concerto in F. The concert then finishes with Strauss’ Dance of the Seven Veils and “Suite” from Rosenkavalier.
"I am very excited to return to Omaha and continue to work with the outstanding musicians and staff of the Omaha Symphony as Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Advisor," Falletta said. "We have a wonderful season planned full of exciting concerts and musical experiences including beloved classics and new and unjustly neglected musical gems. I'm delighted to conduct the opening concert featuring two great American composers, Adolphus Hailstork and George Gershwin, alongside classics by Richard Strauss — his wild Dance of the Seven Veils and his nostalgic orchestral “Suite” from his most popular comic opera, Der Rosenkavalier."
Falletta Conducts Gershwin & Strauss will be presented on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals will take place the week of the concert. Media is welcome to attend with prior notice.

Tickets for Falletta Conducts Gershwin & Strauss start at $26. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.omahasymphony.org or by calling Ticket Omaha at 402.345.0606. Student and teacher rush tickets are $10 and can be purchased 90 minutes before the performance. Performance dates are subject to change.
