Seth Carter

Principal Tuba

Seth Carter begins his appointment as Principal Tuba of the Omaha Symphony in December 2025. A native of Paris Texas, Seth has had notable success as a soloist, ensemble musician, and chamber artist. Before joining the OSA, Seth was previously the Principal Tuba of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra.

Seth is a two-time gold medalist at the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival. In addition, he has received prizes at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference (ITEC), the South-Central Tuba-Euphonium Conference (SCRTEC), and the International Women’s Brass Conference (IWBC). He attended the Aspen Music Festival and School and Sewanee Summer Music Festival, where he was selected as a winner of both of their respective concerto competitions.

Seth graduated from the University of North Texas (BME Music Education/BM Performance) and the Colburn Conservatory (MM). As a teacher, Seth was most recently the Lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at Purdue University Fort Wayne. His teachers include Aaron Tindall, Donald Little, Matthew Good, and Warren Deck.
