François López-Ferrer returns to Omaha for a powerful concert centered around devotion. First, Unsuk Chin’s tribute to Beethoven’s 250th Birthday, Subito con Forza (Suddenly with Force), kickstarts the evening, its power unyielding over its duration. Pianist Zee Zee, “bright, expressive, and moving to the extreme” (Belgischer Rundfunk), makes her Omaha debut on Clara Schumann’s exquisite Piano Concerto, a masterpiece she composed before the age of 16. Brahms’ final Symphony No. 4 delivers a conclusion full of grandeur, an emotional summation of his own legacy and the composers and friends who lit his way.
