Kasumi Leonard, originally from Seattle, WA, is currently acting 3rd flute/piccolo of the Omaha Symphony. From 2009-2016, Kasumi performed with The United States Army Field Band. As a member of the Army Field Band, Kasumi performed in 48 states on 18 nationwide tours, traveling 100 days per year. She regularly soloed with the ensemble and taught over 80 educational clinics in public schools around the country.

Kasumi has also performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as guest principal flute, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphoria, the Finger Lakes Opera, and the Lensic Festival Orchestra. Kasumi is an instructor at the Eastman Community Music School in Rochester, NY and is on faculty as adjunct flute professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Kasumi earned a Master of Music degree in 2022 at the Eastman School of Music with Bonita Boyd and studied piccolo with Anne Lindblom Harrow. She was the first place winner of the 2021 Eastman flute concerto competition. Kasumi completed her B.M. at Eastman in 2009, and earned a Professional Studies Diploma in 2020 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as a student of Timothy Day.
