Section Violin

Peruvian-American violinist, Agatha Blevin is a seasoned and versatile violinist. Beginning her studies at age 3 in Houston, TX, she made her solo performance debut in Turin, Italy at 8 years old. She identifies first and foremost as a passionate chamber musician, and has performed alongside Grigory Kalinovsky, Axel Strauss, Caroline Shaw, Jeffery and Gabriel Kahane, and Roger Tapping. As a former member of the Sileo Quartet, Agatha also worked closely with the Pacifica String Quartet as part of Indiana University’s String Quartet Fellowship Program. During her time in the Sileo Quartet, she competed in the Fischoff Competition and received first prize in the Kuttner Quartet Competition. She has also been invited to compete at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition with both Sileo (2020) and her clarinet/violin/piano trio, Trio Palmera (2024). Agatha has also received first prize in the 2023 Ofiesh Chamber Competition and spent part of her summer on a concert tour in France (2024) as a member of the Marzipan Quartet.

Throughout her young career, Agatha has continued to advocate for contemporary compositions and educational outreach. Agatha was a featured soloist and chamber musician in the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra’s contribution to the inaugural California Festival. She worked closely with and premiered Cathy Miliken’s newest work for string quartet, “In Speak,” as well as her piece for solo violin/voice “Crie”. As an educator, Agatha is currently on faculty at the Colburn School, working for the Center for Innovation and Community Impact (CICI). Her work at CICI involves the formal training of young violinists in the greater Los Angeles community between the ages of 6 and 12 years old, as well as engaging them in community concerts and other classical events.

Agatha received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in 2020, studying with Grigory Kalinovsky and Simin Ganatra. She completed her Master of Music Degree in 2023 at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, studying with the former Los Angeles Philharmonic Principal Concertmaster, Martin Chalifour. She has spent summers attending the Aspen Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and Lucerne Festival Academy with Orchestral Fellowships. Agatha has also performed in concert with many wonderful ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and has served as Associate Principal Second Violin with the American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles. Agatha recently won a position as a Section Violinist in the Santa Barbara Symphony (2025) and is looking forward to joining them for the upcoming season.

Agatha currently performs on a violin by Luis Bellini and bows made by W.E. Hill & Sons.
