Victor Diaz

Section Viola

Victor Daniel Diaz Sanchez is a Colombian violist and educator based in the Midwest. He joined the Omaha Symphony in 2026 after performing with ensembles including the Kansas City Symphony, Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony, and New World Symphony. In 2025 and 2026, he also participated in the Aspen Music Festival and School and was appointed Principal Viola of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra.

Victor has been recognized as a Sphinx Competition Honorable Mention recipient and Sphinx SOPA Finalist, and has been a finalist for Principal Viola with the Richmond Symphony and Associate Principal Viola with the Virginia Symphony.

He earned degrees from the UMKC Conservatory and the International Center for Music at Park University, where he is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Viola Performance.

Alongside his performing career, Victor maintains a private teaching studio and has worked with young musicians through organizations including Harmony Project Kansas City and String Sprouts. He believes that music education is about more than learning an instrument. Through companionship, encouragement, and a shared love of music and the arts, he hopes to help students develop confidence, curiosity, self-expression, and the ability to concentrate deeply—an increasingly important skill in a world filled with constant distraction.

For Victor, teaching and performing are connected by the same belief: that music can bring people together, strengthen our attention to the world around us, and create a meaningful sense of connection and belonging.
