Press Release: The Midtown Men perform the hits of the ‘60s with the Omaha Symphony
Four stars of Broadway’s original production of Jersey Boys are back in Omaha for two performances
OMAHA, Neb., April 16, 2019- Back by popular demand! The Midtown Men are bringing their signature sound and chemistry to Omaha in two performances of favorite 1960s hits on Saturday, April 27, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 28, 2 p.m., at the Holland Performing Arts Center.
Led by Principal Pops Conductor Ernest Richardson, The Midtown Men reunited four stars from the original cast of Broadway’s Jersey Boys: Tony Award winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard, and Tony Award nominee J. Robert Spencer. Together, the Men will sing a catalog of ‘60s classics, complete with their own Midtown Men flavor and the orchestral backing of the Omaha Symphony.
Concert selections include Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry/Sherry,” and “Oh What a Night (December 1963),” as well as the Mamas and Papas’ “California Dreaming,” The Beatles’ “Can’t Buy Me Love,” the Drifters’ “Up on the Roof,” and “Aint No Mountain High Enough,” and more.
The Midtown Men appeared with the Omaha Symphony in two nearly sold-out performances in 2013.
The Midtown Men is the first vocal group ever formed by the principal cast of a high-profile Broadway show. After sharing the stage for more than a thousand performances, Hoff, Longoria, Reichard, and Spencer decided to take their signature sound and chemistry to audiences everywhere. They have been selling out venues across America since 2007, living the dream they once portrayed on the stage.
The group has been praised coast-to-coast, with the New York Times saying, “Sidling up to the microphone, the singers had the air of the Rat Pack, Motown and a nightclub act rolled into one,” while the New York Daily News proclaims, “The Midtown Men sound as crisp as their Rat Pack-inspired suits. Their voices blend together so flawlessly on stage.” The Oklahoman praised the Midtown Men for “a joyous and nostalgic trip through the music of the 1960s with terrific orchestral charts,” after a performance with the Oklahoma Philharmonic.
