The Omaha Symphony will make a figurative deal with the devil in three pieces that concern heaven and hell in Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale, Sunday, October 16, 2 p.m., at Joslyn Art Museum’s Witherspoon Theater.

Led by Resident Conductor Ernest Richardson, the Symphony Joslyn program will include Mozart’s Overture to his opera Don Giovanni, Bach’s Concerto in C Minor for Violin and Oboe featuring Omaha Symphony concertmaster Susanna Perry Gilmore and Principal Oboe Alexandra Rock, and Stravinsky’s Histoire du Soldate (The Soldier’s Tale). The title work will be presented as a theatrical entertainment as originally intended, featuring Moira Mangiameli as the narrator, John Gajewski as the soldier, Kirk Vaughn Robinson as the Devil, and Emily Trebbien as the princess. Former Omaha Symphony Assistant Principal Clarinet John Klinghammer will direct the staging.
