Last month, the Omaha Symphony unveiled its education programming for the 2016-17 season! Leading the charge are three all-new iterations of our most popular programs: Mission Imagination, Margre Durham Concerts for Youth, and Link Up.
Set a course for maximum fun in our newly imagined Mission Imagination adventure, Symphony in Space! This program, currently in development by Omaha Symphony Conducting Fellow Enrico Lopez-Yañez, is set to lead students (Symphonic Star Fleet cadets) on a musical quest across the cosmos in a race against the Evil Lieutenant Tritone.
Continuing our legacy of innovative student matinee concerts, our flagship Margre Durham Concerts for Youth program will become digitized with The Technological Orchestra. Technology is an evolutionary force that has changed the way we live, learn, play, and make music! Join us for an exploration of the effects of technology on music, the orchestra, and ourselves.
Our youngest program, Carnegie Hall’s Link Up, welcomes a fresh, rock star curriculum for area recorder students with The Orchestra Rocks. By learning about rhythm and all the ways composers and musicians use and manipulate different beats, students will discover just how their orchestra ROCKS!
In addition to these offerings, we are equally excited about our remaining programs:
- Celebrate Creativity, A Partnership with Joslyn Art Museum
- Music Mentors side-by-side rehearsals
- Choral Collaborative, Mozart’s Requiem
- Educator as Maestro professional development seminar
