A hint of spookiness and the spirit of good fun make the Omaha Symphony’s annual Symphony Spooktacular concert a bewitching Halloween celebration for the whole family, Sunday, October 25, 2 p.m. at the Holland Performing Arts Center.
Conducted by Resident Conductor Ernest Richardson, our annual Halloween extravaganza will feature festive and familiar music from Captain America, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, The Lion King, The Jungle Book, plus much more!
Joining in the spirit and fun, Omaha Symphony violinist Anne Nagosky and her Band of Merry Fiddlers will perform a rousing medley of Fiddle Songs. The Heartland Youth Ballet will then team-up with members of Anne’s Band of Merry Fiddlers for a special rendition of Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre. The Heartland Youth Ballet will also perform an original dance to Tchaikovsky’s timeless Sleeping Beauty waltz. Topping off the celebration, the Omaha Public School Mini-Singers will join us for songs from Disney’s The Lion King, including “Hakuna Matata,” “Be Prepared,” and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.”
Children (and parents!) are encouraged to join the festivities by dressing in costume, participating in a drawing for prizes, and trick-or-treating afterward. Our always-popular instrument petting zoo will also be open for eager testing and curiosity prior to the concert alongside other Halloween-inspired lobby activities beginning at 1:15 p.m. Special thanks to our official FUN sponsor, Oriental Trading Company, for their support of Symphony Spooktacular.
