OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 14, 2015- The majesty and rugged beauty of the Nordic landscape will be celebrated in the Omaha Symphony's two-part Northern Lights Festival, Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24, 7:30 p.m., at the Holland Performing Arts Center. 

Conducted by Music Director Thomas Wilkins, the Northern Lights Festival will feature music by three lauded Scandinavian composers: Carl Nielsen, Edvard Grieg, and Jean Sibelius. Each night will feature a different concert program, along with two different soloists. Friday's program will include Nielsen's Helios Overture, Grieg's Concerto in A Minor for Piano and Orchestra featuring pianist Andrew Tyson, and Sibelius's Symphony No. 1 in E Minor. Saturday's program will include Grieg's Suite from Peer Gynt, Sibelius's Concerto in D Minor for Violin and Orchestra featuring violinist Bella Hristova, and Nielsen's “Inextinguishable” Symphony (Symphony No. 4).
