  • PRESS RELEASE: It's a battle of the Bachs, in the Omaha Symphony's Bach: More or Less

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach, two of his sons, and one of his most infamous “offspring” will be performed by the Omaha Symphony, Sunday, Jan. 11, 2 pm., at Joslyn Art Museum.

Conducted by Resident Conductor Ernest Richardson, Bach: More or Less will feature pieces by the musical Bach family, including J.S. Bach and his sons, Johann Christian Bach and Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, including J.C. Bach’s Grand Overture in E-flat Major for Double Orchestra, J.S. Bach’s Cantata No. 51, “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!,” and C.P.E. Bach’s Symphony in B-flat Major. Much of the second half of the program will take a look at the music of Bach’s long lost “son,” P.D.Q. Bach (Peter Schickele), including the humorous The Art of the Ground Round, Iphigenia in Brooklyn, and Konzerschitck for Two Violins Mit Orchestra. Soloists featured will include Tiffany Haas, soprano; Brian-Mark Conover, tenor; T. Adam Goos, tenor; and Cody Jorgensen, baritone.
