A flashy bird named Penelope had just finished drifting back and forth across the Holland Center hall. Her feet were warm. Motivation had waned. It was time to go.
So they were ushered back into the van that brought them: three birds with varying degrees of show business acumen and one hyperactive prairie dog (plus her stage-frightened sister), all headed back to the Henry Doorly Zoo after another afternoon practicing for their big Holland Center debut.
