  • OWH: Omaha Symphony to close out season with André Watts

The Omaha Symphony closes out the 2013-2014 season in dramatic fashion this weekend. Acclaimed pianist André Watts joins the orchestra for a performance of Beethoven’s fifth and final piano concerto, a work grand enough that it earned its most magisterial nickname: the Emperor.

Music Director Thomas Wilkins conducts a program that begins with Rossini’s vibrant overture to “Semiramide” and concludes with the Omaha Symphony’s first performance of “Ein Heldenleben,” Richard Strauss’s deliberately provocative six-movement “tone poem.”
