Wilkins & Perry Gilmore

Concertmaster Susanna Perry Gilmore takes center stage with two works for violin and orchestra: Robin Olson’s macabre but lovely Transylvanian Lullaby, and Vaughan Williams’ fiery and rustic Concerto Accademico. Piazzolla opens the concert with a sound-world inspired by dance via Tangazo, a composition that functioned both as a concert piece and a sort of inside-joke for the tango-centric composer. Haydn’s Symphony No. 100, “Military,” caps this concert as we officially begin our 100th year.
