Sibelius Symphony No. 3

We’re concluding our Symphony Joslyn series with three powerful works by 20th century composers. Arvo Pärt’s undulating, hypnotic Mein Weg fully entrances the listener. Grøndahl’s Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra features Omaha Symphony trombonist Jason Stromquist in a sweeping, romantic masterwork for the instrument. The concert – and the series – finishes with Sibelius’ Symphony No. 3, a work that warms and delights the listener with folk themes and full-blooded playing from strings and brass especially.
