In an evening of drama, intrigue, and stunning symphonic beauty, Maestro Ankush Kumar Bahl and the Omaha Symphony present the 19th and 20th-century takes on one of literature’s most tragic love stories—Romeo and Juliet. First, Tchaikovsky’s concert overture begins soft and solemn, almost like a Gregorian chant, turning quickly into a sparring and swift dance that conveys the fighting between the Capulets and Montagues. Prokofiev’s 1935 suite, one of the composer’s most beloved scores today, is full of memorable, dance-able themes—it was meant for the stage at the Mariinsky Ballet, after all. Finally, Concertmaster Susanna Perry Gilmore makes her first appearance as soloist with the Omaha Symphony under the baton of Maestro Bahl with Walton’s Violin Concerto, which was written for one of the most esteemed violinists of the 20th century, Jascha Heifetz.

Great event for a Valentine's Day gift or date!
