MOZART: Clarinet Concerto in A Major, K. 622
MUSSORGSKY/arr. RAVEL: Pictures at an Exhibition
Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic Anthony McGill joins the Omaha Symphony for a performance of Mozart’s charming and intimate Clarinet Concerto in A Major – McGill brings his signature style and flair to arguably the most beloved of Mozart’s concerti for woodwinds. This is bookended by two related works: Adam Schoenberg’s 2012 Picture Studies, a work inspired by eight previously unconnected pieces in Kansas City’s Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and our stunning finale, Pictures at an Exhibition, Mussorgsky’s triumphant, playful, and heart-wrenching tribute to a beloved friend.
