Guest conductor Maestra JoAnn Falletta takes the helm of the Omaha Symphony for a Respighi double feature! The young Canadian violinist and rising star Blake Pouliot joins the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s singing violin concerto, a show-stopping staple of the solo violin repertoire and an iconic work for all who love the composer’s rich Romanticism. The second half of the program celebrates two of three works that make up Respighi’s Roman Trilogy, Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome. Both symphonic poems are thought-provoking musical renderings of our perception of the same place at different times of day.
