Dvořák’s fiery “New World” Symphony meets Grammy-nominated composer Zhou Tian’s brand new composition dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Tian’s work (“Stunning.” – The Cincinnati Enquirer) and Dvorak’s familiar masterpiece celebrate the excitement of the unknown in our Season Opener.
Join us for a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. that will guide you step-by-step through the evening’s program.
* Please note that this is a different time than most pre-concert lectures. Lobby doors will open to accommodate patrons.
In the video below, hear Transcend composer Zhou Tian's experience while researching the railroad at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs and the Durham Museum in Omaha, and how a conversation with a docent at the Durham inspired the final movement in the piece, "D-O-N-E."
