The Orchestra Manager is responsible and accountable for managing the musical personnel of the Omaha Symphony, including core, per-service and auxiliary musicians. S/he ensures that the musical activities of the Omaha Symphony are executed by a complement of musicians who have been hired, scheduled and organized in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Omaha Symphony Association and the Omaha Musicians’ Association. S/he serves as the primary point of contact for the musicians, providing information and arranging the resources necessary for them to perform at the highest possible artistic level. In his/her role, the Orchestra Manager strives to facilitate a congenial and collaborative work environment for the musicians and those with whom they work, including conductors, guest artists, and administrative staff.
As a member of the Orchestra Operations and Production Department, the Orchestra Manager reports to the Vice President of Orchestra Operations and Production. The Orchestra Manager assists the Vice President of Orchestra Operations and Production in planning, budgeting and managing the activities of the orchestra. During negotiations, the Orchestra Manager is an active participant in contract discussions and, with the Vice President of Orchestra Operations and Production, works directly with the Orchestra Committee on challenges and opportunities during the term of the contract.
