Omaha Symphony will refund Aretha Franklin concert tickets

Omaha, Neb – The Omaha Symphony has decided to refund all remaining tickets to the Aretha Franklin concert originally scheduled for October 2007. The symphony has been working unsuccessfully with Miss Franklin’s management to find a new date since last fall.

Thomas Wilkins named Principal Guest Conductor for the Hollywood Bowl

Omaha, Neb – Hollywood has come calling for Omaha Symphony Music Director Thomas Wilkins. Today, the Los Angeles Philharmonic announced that Wilkins has been named Principal Guest Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He will officially assume his role with the orchestra’s opening concert on June 20, and will lead the orchestra a total of four weeks during the summer. Wilkins will serve in his new role in conjunction with his roles as music director of the Omaha Symphony and resident conductor for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Originally slated for Saturday, June 7, at the Holland Performing Arts Center, the concert will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008. The 8 p.m. time for the performance will remain the same.
